The mission of Be Green Packaging is “to design, develop,
manufacture, and distribute tree free, compostable food container
packaging worldwide. Our express intent is to reduce our reliance on
forested and petroleum based raw materials.” Be Green also runs their
office in Santa Barbara in an environmentally responsible way. They
recycle and compost and buy as many post consumer recycled products as
possible from file folders, to paper, to paper towels, and even toilet
paper. Through the Green Business Program they have developed a new
ridesharing program for their employees that includes earning a free
pass to a yoga class. Be Green employees are also very committed to our
community and what they refer to as “social responsibilities.” Donations
made by employees to organizations such as the Red Cross and Direct
Relief International are matched by Be Green. Be Green is currently
donating their products to the Santa Barbara Film Festival in their
efforts to go green this year.
